The effort of politics to silence the opposition through the judiciary is unacceptable.

IYI Party Istanbul Provincial Chairperson Buğra Kavuncu made a statement after the Supreme Court of Appeals dismissed CHP Istanbul Provincial Chair Canan Kaftancıoğlu’s political party membership. Kavuncu said, “The pressure and effort of politics to silence the opposition through the judiciary is not an acceptable attitude.”

Making statements by the Supreme Court of Appeals Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office to dismiss CHP Istanbul Provincial Chair Canan Kaftancıoğlu’s political party membership, IYI Party Istanbul Provincial Chair Buğra Kavuncu said, “The pressure and effort of politics to silence the opposition through the judiciary is not an acceptable attitude.”

Kavuncu said, “We clearly stated our stance when these issues were first brought to the agenda. We do not find this correct. Politics is a legitimate ground, people who engage in politics transparently and openly mention their thoughts and the opinions of people who believe in them on the official platform. Let it be the duty of the government to prevent it easily,” Kavuncu said. to provide the opportunity for her to be heard.” used the phrases.

Kavuncu continued his words as follows:

However, at the point we have reached today, this inequality is not only applied to my colleague, but also in many areas; We see that they are making attempts to frighten, insult, marginalize, turn them into enemies and intimidate the opposition by using the language of hatred that we never want to accept. Turkish democracy suffers the most from this.

I don’t think they will have much of an impact. As a result, Istanbul CHP Provincial Presidency was formed by the election of provincial delegates who were members of the party. Therefore, this task may have ended on paper. But in practice, this struggle will continue with the party members who believe in him and walk the path with him.

Kavuncu also said the following about the postponement of the case for İBB President Ekrem İmamoğlu, for which a political ban was requested, to September 21 and whether the decision for Kaftancıoğlu could be interpreted as an “early election” step:

“If these are related issues, early elections should have already been held. Because attempts and rhetoric such as silencing and intimidating the opposition are not the first. Recall that he had said to our chairman before, ‘I will have you arrested’. It’s the same mentality. A court process has been initiated regarding our chairman. There is insistence that the court process is not completed. You know, we applied to the prosecutor’s office regarding a slander thrown at me. Within 6 months, it was clearly understood that what was done against us was a slander. The same speed is not shown for our president. We see that there is an intervention there again. Whether there is an early election or not, the methods used by the government constantly…

The economic trajectory raises the possibility of holding early elections too much. Turkey is in a very difficult period right now. It has reached an unbearable level. Inflation, purchasing power, the citizens are miserable. We are faced with a government that does not know what it is doing. Every day they stand there hurt this country. They have to bring it as soon as possible to end this suffering of the citizens under the economy. Therefore, I see a very high probability of an early election.”

Within the scope of the politics ban imposed on CHP Istanbul Provincial Chair Canan Kaftancıoğlu, her membership in political parties was also reduced by the Supreme Court Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office. The decision was conveyed to the CHP Headquarters.

Kaftancıoğlu’s duty as the Istanbul Provincial Chairman will officially end until the execution process is completed.

In the statement made by the CHP Istanbul Provincial Presidency after the decision, it was said, “Our chairman has clearly revealed his stance on this issue before. There is no situation that binds us. We are at the beginning of our duty.”

Kaftancıoğlu also shared on his social media account, “The CHP is a party that was founded on the battlefields with the spirit of the Kuvayi Milliye, not in law offices. Membership of the Republican People’s Party is a work of faith, a work of heart, a work of effort. That belief, that heart, that labor is pretty much the rest for us… What did we say? Their fears won’t do any good in the nick of time!” made statements.
