Fenerbahçe President Ali Koç congratulated Fenerbahçe athletes Busenaz Çakıroğlu, Ayşe Çağrıır, Buse Naz Çakıroğlu, Hatice Akbaş and Şennur Demir who achieved success in the World Women’s Boxing Championship. Stating that successful athletes went down in history, Ali Koç said, “I congratulate all the athletes who won medals. I think it is a turning point for Turkish women’s boxing. I salute those who did not mention Fenerbahçe in this success.”
Buse Naz Çakıroğlu, Hatice Akbaş, Busenaz Sürmeneli, Ayşe Çağrıır and Şennur Demir won the gold medal, while Sema Çalışkan won the bronze medal at the World Women’s Boxing Championship hosted by Turkey by the International Boxing Association (IBA).
Turkey completed the event hosted by Turkey as a team champion.. Crescent-star athletes won a total of 7 medals, 5 gold and 2 bronze. Five of these medals, 4 of which are gold and one is bronze, came from Fenerbahce athletes.
Fenerbahce President Ali Koc congratulated Fenerbahce athletes and coaches who achieved success by marking the World Women’s Boxing Championship. Congratulating the boxers and trainers for their success, Koç mentioned Fenerbahçe’s contributions to Turkish sports.
Ali Koç’s statements are as follows:
“I congratulate all the athletes who won medals. I think it is a turning point for Turkish women’s boxing. I also spoke with the president of the federation today. We are the world champions as a team for the first time. It is the first time we have won so many medals in a tournament. If we can keep this up as a country, Turkey will also be in women’s boxing. I think we have taken one of the important steps that can become one of the leading countries permanently.
We’ve won a few medals in the past, but this is the first time we’ve won so many medals as a team in a tournament. We participated with 12 athletes, 8 of whom are Fenerbahçe’s athletes. We got 7 medals in total. It’s an awesome event. I sincerely congratulate all of them, congratulate them and wish them continued success. You have not only entered the history of Turkish women’s boxing, you have also written your name in the history of Fenerbahçe Sports Club with golden letters. Team sports such as football and men’s basketball attract more attention, but when we look at the history of this glorious club, there are many sports and non-sports events that will go down in history. You have written your name in the glorious history of Fenerbahçe with golden letters. Therefore, in the presence of Mr. Selahattin and Mr. Fikret, I sincerely congratulate all our teachers, all our athletes who won medals, and wish them continued success. Hopefully it will be repeated. May the path of all our athletes who did not receive medals be open and good luck.
YOU HIGH OUR EXPECTATIONS
You spoiled us. You raised our expectations. I told Buse Naz after the Olympics. I hope our path will be clear in the Paris Olympics, luck will be on our side and once again we will achieve successes that we can call ‘turning points’ in Turkish sports. The fact that you pamper us shows how successful you are. You always set the bar high. Buse Naz held it so high that she said she would even run for the presidency of Fenerbahce. These show how determined you are, how much you aim for the hill even as a joke. You have all the qualities we look for in an athlete, and the fact that all these took place around the 19th of May, Commemoration of Atatürk, Youth and Sports Day, and coinciding with those days, is an issue that needs attention. Daughters of our ancestors, daughters of our Republic, that you have shown what Turkish women can achieve at such an important date, I think, is another issue that should be noted.
FENERBAHÇE, GALATASARAY AND BEŞİKTAŞ OPERATES IN MANY BRANCHES
Whether it’s Mr. Fikret, Mr. Selahattin or Mr. İlker, they told us under what conditions we, as Fenerbahçe Sports Club, carry out these activities. Believe me, it’s not easy. Fenerbahçe, Galatasaray, Beşiktaş these clubs operate in many branches due to their duty to spread sports to a young country in our Republic, but we all know how difficult it is to maintain these activities under the current conditions. Among these clubs, Fenerbahçe still continues its activities in amateur branches as the only big club that aims for the top, in every branch it competes in, in every field. As I always say, I don’t know how much longer we can go on. I think it is very important for our state to be aware of this and give us a shoulder and support. I hope that in the future, I believe how valuable our efforts are when viewed from an objective point of view, and that clubs like us should be encouraged and inspired by other clubs, and that our state should support this.
The last time we went to the Olympics, as Turkey, we went with the biggest convoy in our history, yes this is a success. We’ve received medals, which is nice, but we’re a long way from where we should be. If we are going to be one of the leading countries in the world, we need to be the leader in certain areas of sports. There is the material to do this. There are young people, we have a demographic advantage. But unfortunately, we can stay away from long-term permanent successes with short-term approaches. We do something with a single effort. As a country, I think we can do much better with our total opportunities, young people and facilities. You have shown what a correct idea this is. I congratulate all of you, I congratulate your families, teachers and branch.
GREETING TO THOSE WHO DON’T MENTION FENERBAHÇE
Greetings to those who do not see all this effort, effort, investments, patience, belief and effort of Fenerbahçe, and those who do not mention Fenerbahçe’s name in this success. Whatever you do, we will continue to do our best for our country and sports, to do the best we know is right. I would like to tell you that you motivate us more by not mentioning our names.
Thanks again to all of you. I am glad to have you, I am glad that you are from Fenerbahce. You showed us that you live Fenerbahçe to your heart’s content. We are also very lucky that you are our athlete. I congratulate you all. Thank you, exist. “
