4 years, 11 months and 20 days of the 9 years 8 months and 20 days’ prison sentence given to Canan Kaftancıoğlu, the Istanbul Provincial Chair of the Republican People’s Party (CHP) of the Supreme Court of Appeals. to approve The reactions continue.

CHP Erzurum Provincial Chairperson Suat Dülger reacted to the judicial decision against CHP Istanbul Istanbul Provincial Chair Canan Kaftancıoğlu and stated that it was proven that the rule of law and judicial independence in Turkey were shelved.

Dülger made the following statement at the CHP Erzurum Provincial Presidency:

“Our country is going through a dark, despotic period in which law and justice have been murdered. In this dark period created by the one-man regime, the decision of the Supreme Court of Appeals to approve our Istanbul Provincial President, our fellow traveler, Canan Kaftancıoğlu, also underpins the rule of law and independence of the judiciary in Turkey. and it is proof that the most basic constitutional rights and freedoms have been shelved. The palace regime still suffers from the indigestion of the lost municipalities, especially in Istanbul. We see that this indigestion has turned into the fear that it will lose its power after the local elections, we are living. However, there is no quick cure for fear, the solution is the nation, democracy, ballot box.

The fear of losing the power of the Saray regime, which drags our country into the economic and political abyss in every field, from economy to foreign policy, makes fun of the public, and tries desperately to maintain its existence with daily populist policies, was embodied by the punishment and ban on politics given to our fellow traveler Canan Kaftancıoğlu. Therefore, in this dark environment where laws, science, art and human rights are shelved, we were not surprised by the Supreme Court decision, just as we were not surprised by the decision of the High Criminal Court in 2019.
Because we know that the source of this decision, which hurt the public conscience and once again questioned the trust in justice, is not the law, but the monstrous Palace regime.

In our country, the law is under guardianship. Justice has been destroyed, the constitution has been shelved. The decision made about our Istanbul Provincial President and fellow traveler Canan Kaftancıoğlu was also written in the language of the tutelary regime of the Palace, not according to law and justice. This decision is unlawful. This decision not made on behalf of the nation will be null and void in all hearts of conscience. The addressee of this unlawfulness is not only Canan Kaftancıoğlu, but all of Turkey.

We, as the Republican People’s Party family, are the sons of a great cause based on the Kuvayi Milliye. Our cause is the cause of democracy; our cause is the case of right, law and justice; our cause is the cause of those who are against hunger, poverty and injustice. Therefore, our struggle is the struggle to bring this country to the light. Our struggle is the struggle of those who are on the side of right, law and justice.

We will not do “victim literature” like them, we will maintain our proud stance until the end. As we stand against all kinds of unlawfulness, we will also stand upright against it. As Canan Kaftancıoğlu’s companions, we do not recognize all unlawful decisions, nor will we recognize this decision.

We will not stop, we will not be silent until the unlawfulness suffered by our fellow traveler Canan Kaftancıoğlu is eliminated and justice is re-established. We will stand firm against this injustice with all our democratic resistance and strength until the oppression and tyranny are held accountable.

On May 21, we will say “stop” to injustice, unlawfulness and injustice from Maltepe, Istanbul, from the square where our President’s 25-day historic march for rights, law and justice ended, with one heart and one voice. With our strong voice rising from Istanbul, we will say “stop” to the management mentality of the freak Saray regime that drags our country into the abyss.

As our esteemed President said… Don’t worry, we will never take a step back in the face of the cruelty of the oppressor. We will continue on our way with our heart, mind, logic and love for the people. Justice will either come to this country or it will come! Canan is hearted, Canan is brave, Canan is ours. Canan is Turkey.”
