It was seen that the waters in Salda Lake, which is shown as ‘Turkey’s Maldives’, have receded and the lake has turned into a swamp. Responding to the claims of swamps, Uçan, General Manager of Conservation of Natural Assets, said, “It has been determined that the place in the images is not a swamp, and that there is water withdrawal in this area within the framework of seasonal normals.”
Known as ‘Turkey’s Maldives’, NASA said “even with shoes should not be entered”, and UNESCO started working to include it on the World Natural Heritage List. Salda LakeDeplorable images came from. The latest images of Salda Lake, known for its turquoise water and white sandy beach, drew a great reaction. It was claimed that there was water withdrawal at some points of Salda Lake in Yeşilova district and swampy areas were formed. After the allegations, Hacı Abdullah Uçan, General Manager of the Ministry of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change, Conservation of Natural Assets, made investigations in Salda Lake.
“WATER WITHDRAWAL IN THE FRAMEWORK OF SEASONAL NORMALS”
A statement has been made about the final state of Salda Lake, which is considered one of the most beautiful natural heritages in the world. Uçan said, “The place in the images is not a swamp, it has been determined that there is water withdrawal in this area within the framework of seasonal normals, and it has been determined that the yellow mud image is caused by the wind transport of pollen from the surrounding forests and reeds on the water leaking from the waters that feed the lake in this area.”
Explaining that the Salda Lake Conservation Project works are carried out with the highest level of environmental sensitivity, Uçan said, “All the studies we carry out in this context comply with the recommendations of the Scientific Study Board, which includes academicians from our universities, non-governmental organizations and representatives of our ministry. To convey the unique beauty of this region, which is our natural heritage, to future generations. “ENTRY OF VEHICLES AND PEOPLE IS PROHIBITED”
Providing information about the work carried out by the Ministry, Hacı Abdullah Uçan said, “In the White Islands region, the entrance of vehicles and people to the shore of the lake is prohibited. The number of visitors is limited by determining the carrying capacity in this region.
A smoke-free air zone has been created on the shore of Salda Lake. In order to implement the protection measures, a 24/7 camera system has been installed in the area, and the parking needs of the visitors are met outside the protected area, which is 2 kilometers away from the area, as part of the protection measures.

Arguing that there have been unfounded claims about the lake lately and that images from areas unrelated to the projects have been misled by each of the claims, Uçan said, “It has been determined that the place in the images is not a swamp, there is water withdrawal in this area within the framework of seasonal normals, and the yellow mud image is the result of the water leaking from the waters that feed the lake in this area. Upon this, it was determined that the pollen from the surrounding forests and reeds was carried by the wind. The public is misled by these images,” he said.

Yeşilova Mayor Mümtaz Şenel reminded that the pollution is caused by the pollen of the pine trees carried by the snow falling on the shore of Salda Lake, and this event is repeated every year.
