DEVA Party member Helün Fırat’s reaction to the music ban: We want freedom

Helün Fırat, Head of Culture, Art and Tourism Policies of DEVA Party, reacted to the revocation of the music ban, which was taken as a precautionary measure, to 01.00 due to the coronavirus restrictions. Fırat, “What mind can believe that the music ban to be implemented after 01.00 at night will benefit the society?” he asked.

Helün Fırat, Head of Culture, Art and Tourism Policies of DEVA Party, reacted to the music ban being brought to 01.00 on the grounds of the pandemic. Emphasizing that these practices are ideological, Fırat demanded that the ban on music be lifted completely.

Fırat made the following statements in his statement:

FLEXED FOR 1 HOUR WITH A DECISION LIKE A WAVE

“In a painful period like the pandemic, the performing arts and venue businesses experienced the greatest difficulty. It was expected that all the wounds of the pandemic would be healed in this brutal so-called support environment, where more than 100 people, who earned their bread from the music and stage industry, ended their lives with financial difficulties, and the bans at 00.00 at night were completely lifted as people returned to their normal lives. However, the government took a decision as if it was kidding, instead of lifting the bans, they only stretched it for 1 hour.”

WHICH MIND CAN BELIEVE THAT MUSIC PROHIBITION WILL BENEFIT SOCIETY

“In this period when HES codes and masks are removed from our lives and there is a lot of relief, which mind can believe that music bans to be implemented after 01.00 at night will benefit the society? Despite all the expectations, stretching the bans for only 1 hour does not mean making fun of the public mind.”

IT IS ILLEGAL

“On the other hand, as we have repeatedly stated; It is against the law to limit working hours to music venues. First of all, the President or the Minister of Interior does not have the authority to impose working hours restrictions on musical venues. Limiting the freedom of work, which is the constitutional right of musical venue owners, is a constitutional crime. We urgently demand that those who turn constitutional crimes into an ordinary routine give up on this and that the industry’s rights be surrendered.

PEOPLE ARE FIGHTING WITH BRING BREAD TO THEIR HOME

“We support the call of professional associations such as MÜYORBİR, MESAM and MSG, and stand by them. These narrow-eyed restrictions, stubbornly made to shape the lifestyle of the society, affect the lives of hundreds of thousands. In addition to hundreds of thousands of musicians, hundreds of thousands of people working in these workplaces, especially sound-light system companies, live music venues, catering companies, service staff, security companies, are struggling with the problem of bringing bread to their homes.”

WE REQUEST THE COMPLETE REMOVAL OF THE BANS

“We have previously called for the solution of the problem and offered our solutions, but the current government’s perspective on freedom of expression and lifestyle continues to torment the lives of hundreds of thousands of families who eat their bread from the industry. Once again, we demand the necessary action and the removal of bans, and we demand freedom for music and life. We will follow the matter to the end.”
