In The Hague, the International Criminal Court’s chief prosecutor, Karim Khan, said he would seek the court’s approval to open an investigation into alleged war crimes in Ukraine.

Khan said the investigation would look into alleged abuses dating back to 2014, when Ukraine recognized the court’s jurisdiction.

The public prosecutor will first have to obtain authorization from a court room to open an investigation.
