spokesperson confirmed Kremlin Dmitriy Peskov Monday that Russia It will succeed in bypassing the sanctions imposed on it by the West in response to the invasion of Ukraine, while President Vladimir Putin will hold a meeting to discuss its economic repercussions.
“Western sanctions against Russia are harsh, but our country has the necessary capabilities to compensate for the damages,” Peskov told reporters. He added that “Putin will take care of economic issues today (Monday)” and will meet with his relevant government ministers.
Peskov added that Putin is focusing his efforts on the economic response to confront the sanctions, and Russian negotiator and Kremlin adviser Vladimir Medinsky said on the fifth day of the Russian invasion of Ukraine that Moscow wants to reach an “agreement” with Kyiv.
“The longer the conflict lasts for an additional hour, the more Ukrainian citizens and soldiers will die. We agreed to reach an agreement, but it should be in the interest of both sides,” he told Russian television. Negotiations are supposed to take place in Belarus, near the Ukrainian border.
The Governor of the Central Bank of Russia said: We have an alternative to the “SWIFT” system, and internal and external customers can use it.
