195 countries begin reviewing a report on the devastating effects of climate warming on the planet

With climate warming accelerating, 195 countries will begin Monday, during a virtual meeting, to adopt a reference scientific report on its devastating effects on the world. planet earth will give a bleak picture of the future that humanity must prepare for, and after more than a century and a half of economic development through fossil fuels, the Earth’s temperature has risen by about 1.1 degrees Celsius compared to the pre-industrial era, which led to a doubling of heat waves, droughts, storms and floods devastating.

The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change estimated that the temperature will reach in 2030, ten years earlier than expected, the threshold of +1.5 degrees Celsius, the most ambitious target of the Paris Agreement, in the first part of its report published last August.

On all continents on the planet, the world is witnessing an increase in the frequency and severity of natural disasters, as last year when fires swept the American West, Greece and Turkey, and floods inundated areas in Germany and China, and record temperatures were recorded close to 50 degrees Celsius in Canada.

Faced with this scene and the need to cut emissions by about 50% by 2030 to keep warming below the +1.5°C threshold, world leaders pledged at the COP26 climate summit in Glasgow in November to accelerate the fight against climate warming.
