Al Hilal said through his official account on Twitter: “The club’s board of directors, headed by Fahd bin Nafel, decided to terminate the contractual relationship with coach Leonardo Jardim by mutual consent.”
And he added in another tweet: “The board of directors has completed the procedures for signing with Argentine coach Ramon Diaz, who will work under the contract as coach of the first football team, until the end of the current season,” noting that the coach will arrive with his assistant staff to Riyadh on Tuesday morning.
The management of Al Hilal thanked Jardim for what he had done throughout his work at the club, and wished him success in his career.
Al-Hilal fans had poured out their anger on Jardim, accusing him of causing the team’s big loss in the Club World Cup against Al-Ahly of Egypt by a clean four, in the third-place match, last, knowing that his team played more than an hour with nine players.
Jardim took over the training of Al Hilal in June 2021, and led it to the AFC Champions League title for the 2020-2021 season and the Saudi Super Cup.
Diaz previously trained Al Hilal from 2016 to 2018, and led it to the league and cup title in 2017, and to the AFC Champions League final in the same year.
